One of the first and foremost questions usually asked, by everyone, not familiar with a particular singer, musician, or a band is, "What, or who do they sound like?" That's an important question, so...here is the description that is written on a few promotional items, by Tate Music Group, describing the overall sound of Jerry T. Yates:

Jerry T. Yates is an award winning Gospel music artist. He is a Christian Troubadour, with a calling similar to that of the old, Methodist Circuit Riders, who blanketed the country-sides, during the 1700's, delivering the Good News of Jesus Christ. Although he did receive the 2008 Roots Music Association Gospel Artist of the Year Award, this type of recognition is not what this ministry is about.
Our ministry is based on the belief that the needs of the people we serve, especially their spiritual needs, are of the utmost importance, although our primary target audience, probably don't even like Church; at least not the traditional type of church, with which the majority of Baby Boomers grew up. However, our entire team is committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of our ministry/ business is from repeat customers and referrals.
We would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and serve you, by delivering you the best service we can, through the grace and power of Jesus Christ. While this is a Music Ministry, we do not seek stardom, nor do we have any aspirations of becoming any type of idol, American or otherwise. We are simply here to serve you, as the risen Lord mandated in Mark's Gospel, chapter 16, verses 15-20.
